Today in Class

Class started today with a video about how believing in yourself as a student can actually help your brain grow.  The video referenced the growth mindset so students can learn to believe that can complete any task.

In class students were asked to their first self-assessment of the year.  The learning target that they were assessing was “I am able to convert between fractions, decimals, and percents.”  Students self-assessed themselves using the following rubric.

  1. I need more time to understand this
  2. I can do this with the help of an example or working with other students in a group
  3. I can do this on my own
  4. I can do this on my own AND explain my solution path(s) to a classmate or a teacher

Lastly, students signed up for Seesaw, an online site that helps students organize materials for an online portfolio.  Students uploaded images of their self assessment to the online portfolio.
